Students "should be exceptionally proud" of GCSE results

Students at West Hatch High School, Chigwell, were celebrating their GCSE examination results with the vast majority enrolling into the school’s Sixth Form.

A school spokesman said: "Overall results were once again significantly improved from last year's outcomes and the school is delighted. Our students have performed impressively despite the constant disruption they have faced over the last few years. Having achieved very positive results across the board, there were some standout individual and subject successes. In addition to exceptionally high overall pass rates, the number of students achieving the top grades were impressive."

Headteacher Daniel Leonard said: "I am just so delighted for these students. They have always been a tremendous year group and I am so proud of what they have achieved. "

"As with our Year 13 outcomes, these are my final results as Headteacher and for this year group to have achieved our best ever results has made me so happy. It’s great to be able to leave the school on the back of such wonderful outcomes at both A-Level and GCSE. Like last year’s cohort, this year have been faced with disruption, including Covid and strike action throughout their studies. They should be exceptionally proud of what they have achieved and the perseverance they have shown to achieve such wonderful results, I certainly am. I’m sure I speak for all of our students in thanking the staff who have helped them to achieve such fantastic results this year."

West Hatch High School's Sixth Form is well known for its excellent provision and results, extensive range of well-established A-Level and Vocational Courses, its Work Shadowing, Extended Project Qualification, Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme and opportunities to trek and travel abroad.

Mr Leonard said: "When our Sixth Formers leave, they take with them the confidence, skills and excellent results enabling them to compete with the best."
