Former West Hatch High School student Ryan Green’s time on the BBC talent show The Voice came to an end last night when he bowed out at the knockout stage.

Last night viewers saw him fail to be chosen by rapper Will i Am as one of his three contestants for the live shows.

Ryan had become one of Team Will’s eight hopefuls after he was ‘stolen’ from coach Rita Ora for the knockout round.

After his exit was broadcast last night, Ryan tweeted: “I've had an amazing time on @BBCTheVoiceUK this year, thanks to everyone for the support, this is just the beginning for me!”

Ryan, who lives in Hainault, left West Hatch High School in 2013 having studied GCSE music. He is now studying full-time at the Brit School.

It was the second time that the 18-year-old had appeared on the show having failed to get through the ‘blind audition’ stage last year.

The singer/pianist was a regular performer at school concerts sometimes performing his own work.

West Hatch High School music teacher Mauro Sheehan said: “Congratulations to Ryan Green on his attempt to get through the knockout stage.

“After being ‘stolen’ by Will, Ryan gave a sterling performance but lost out to three others of his team. I wish him well.

“As Mozart said of the young Beethoven: ‘Mark that young man. He will make himself a name in the world’."

Ryan also plays percussion and attended Redbridge Music School.

He is the latest West Hatch High School student to appear on a national television talent show.

Jonathan Antoine and Charlotte Jaconelli, the singing duo Jonathan and Charlotte, were runners-up in ITV's Britain's Got Talent three years ago while Sonny Jay, part of the Loveable Rogues, reached the final in the same year.

Meanwhile John Wilding reached the judges' houses stage on ITV's X-Factor for two successive years in 2010 and 2011.
