These results mean that the vast majority of our students have gained access to their first choice universities, with a number securing higher level apprenticeships or employment.

Having achieved positive results across the board, there were some stand-out individual and subject successes. In addition to exceptionally high overall pass rates, the number of students achieving the top grades were impressive, including:

A number of subject areas performed particularly well this year, for example Spanish achieving 100% A*- B grades with Art, English Literature and Drama all achieving over 80%, among other excellent departmental results.

Half of all grades were Distinction* or Distinction for students studying vocational qualifications in Business, Applied Science, Performing Arts, Cambridge Technical Certificate in IT and Sports and Exercise Science, showing the school’s continued commitment to a broad curriculum offer.

All of our students’ hard work and high aspirations have paid off and their determination to succeed has embodied the school’s motto to be ‘The Best that I Can Be.’ University destinations include: English and Modern Languages at Oxford, International Social and Public Policy at London School of Economics, Economics and Finance at Bristol University, English at King's College, London, Politics and International Relations at UCL, Engineering, History and Politics at Warwick, Mathematics, Economics, Accounting and History at Queen Mary University of London, Computer Science, Health Sciences, Engineering and Economics at Nottingham University, Philosophy/Politics and Economics at York University, English Literature at Cardiff University. Students are also off to study Maths, Accounting and Financial Management at Loughborough, Law, Economics and Accounting, English, Civil and Infrastructure Engineering, Mathematics, Investment and Financial Risk Management at City, University of London. A large number of our students are also taking up Degree Apprenticeships at a range of companies across the City.

Headteacher, Daniel Leonard, said, “I am tremendously proud of our students this year. These are my final A Level results as Headteacher and I’m particularly proud because this year group started at West Hatch in my first year as Headteacher.

This year’s group was equally as affected by covid lockdowns and strike action as last year’s, so to perform so well is a testament to their hard work and determination as well as their academic ability.

Results like these do not just happen, and I would like to thank the school’s staff on behalf of the students, for all their dedication and support for the students over the last two years. Finally, I’d like to wish all of our students the very best of luck for the next stage in their lives in whichever path they choose to take, whether it be university, apprenticeships or straight into the world of work.”
